Taking a Stand in Awareness as Awareness So one should accept those Shrutis alone from which proceeds true knowledge. Just as a person imagines a jewel in fire or vice versa, so does one, etc.
It is present in every object but transcends all objects. I am free from impurity, I am immovable, unlimited, holy, undecaying, and immortal. The Self is the material cause of the phenomenal universe. Just as earth is shankaracharua material cause of a pot, Awareness is the material cause of ignorance and the thoughts it produces.

A wise person always sees the visible, invisible and everything else as Awareness and knows that he or she is only Awareness. Just as a rope is taken to be a snake or thread to be cloth or clay to be a pot the Self is taken to be the body.

So ehankaracharya can this body be Purusha? So how can the insentient aparokshanubhugi requires illumination from some other source…be the Self? The authorship of the book is generally attributed to Sri Sankaracarya, Even if this be disputed, the teachings are undoubtedly Advaitic. So how can it be the Self? Just as the appearance of a ghost in an empty place, of a castle in the air, and of a second moon in the sky is illusoryso is the appearance of the universe in Brahman.

This gives one the confidence to apply Self knowledge even when the mind is not experiencing non-duality. Again, thank you very much. Ignorance can only be removed by knowledge and since knowledge does not happen on its own one needs to seek it.
What else can be called ignorance but this? Everything was in order and the book, well packaged. Therefore one should always think of the Self if one wants freedom.
