Ed Greenwood seems to get a little bit long winded here, but otherwise I really enjoyed it.

In the end we elmiinster to see the Mythal raised in Cormanthyr, which changes the name of the city to Myth Dranor after the elf, Dranor, who created the spell.
I don’t remember a lot about this book I started the 3rd book with the hope of returning to the much better writting style of the 1st book. I’m a Forgotten Realms Fanboy if there ever was one. Not to worry, Mystra will save the day. See all 5 pre-owned listings. It is also fun if you are into magic, as the elves within the story are mostly mages with spells that erupt frequently and with much tumult. And the whole iin is kinda cool. She’s pretty cool in the story, and Mystra gives her back her youth, so she’s hot in the end, too.
While the arch-fiend plundered Elminster’s thoughts and memories, Mystra became aware of her favorite servant’s plight and entered Hell herself to find him. When the brought in the Scooby Doo tropes and cliches, I gave up and sped read the rest to see of it ever recovers. After reading through the Making of a Mage, the Dark Elf Series through currentand, of course, Tolkien, this book held little interest.
Some may not like the fact that the setting is basically limited to the elven city, but for me it allowed the author to bring more depth to the story instead of running around questing for this and that. No sweat, Mystra helps and holds his hand through it all.
Elminster in Myth Drannor
I cannot think of a single part of this book that I actually liked. As he and Myrjala left the kingdom, the so-called Mage Royal, Undarl, attacked them, and the sorceress revealed herself to be Mystra.
It left me wondering, in parts, what exactly Drannnor was doing, or why he was doing something. He doesn’t have any agency. In the opening of Elminster in HellElminster narrowly managed to close the portal at the expense of much of his magical strength.
